Get your little one down to the Rec to join in all the soccer fun at OSPR!!  Classes will focus on developing the basic soccer skills while having a lot of fun at the same time.  Classes will last 45 minutes at the Rec and will incorporate drills and mini games and game play. Classes are low in number to allow for better and more personal instruction.  Shin guards are manditory. 
 
9:30 AM - 10:15 AM    Silly Scientists - Silly Science for Jr's
This OSPR classic will have your child engaged in science and having a great time with their friends as they explore, solids, liquids, gas, slime, magnets and a whole lot more.We offer two age levels of our Silly Science program, pre-K and K-4th.
 
12:00 PM - 1:00 PM    Youth Basketball League - 6th - 8th Grade Boys Basketball: Golden State Warriors @ Toronto Raptors
Old Saybrook Parks & Recreation Youth Basketball program begins in January  with practices and games and runs for (7) weeks. This basketball program is open to boys & girls in grades 2—8 of all abilities. All players receive a shirt and loads of fun. Players will be divided up by gender into two different age divisions. Grades 2nd & 3rd, Grades 4th & 5th, and grades 6th- 8th. Teams will have weekly practices and games will be played on Saturday mornings at the Recreation Center Divisions are subject to change based on registration numbersOur Youth Basketball League is sponsored by:
 
2:00 PM - 3:00 PM    Snowman Building Championship - Snowman Championship 2020
Join OSPR for a new and exciting program where we will hold the Snowman Building Championship on the Town Green on Saturday, January 18th.  Whether we have snow form above or man made, we are holding a championship to remember.  Were excepting 16 building teams of 4 snow engineers.  The team with the best snowman wins the prize!!

Open to adults 30+ on Monday mornings at the Rec. Center. Pickleball is a racquet sport which combines elements of badminton, tennis, and table tennis. The sport is played on a court with the same dimensions as a doubles badminton court. The net is similar to a tennis net, but is mounted two inches lower. The game is played with a hard paddle and a polymer wiffleball. All equipment is provided so be ready to have fun.

The Teen Center is a drop-in program at the OSPR Recreation Center behind Town Hall and adjacent to the Old Saybrook Middle School.  It is a supervised setting where your child can interact with peers and develop social skills and relationships.  We have a wide variety of activities and games offered daily.  Members are able to use the Teen Center lounge and game tables, the gym, as well as the outside basketball courts and baseball field.Members may attend the Rec Monday-Thursday from 2:30pm-5:30pm, starting on Tuesday, September 3rd. Gentle Yoga is a Vinyasa-based class which blends breath with movement, balancing gentle stretches and openings with invigorating poses. Modifications encourage mixed-level students to work to their personal edge. Focus of this class is on stress release and re-energizing of body and mind.  Class Taught by : Terri Cain, BFA, MA, MDiv, certified Kripalu Yoga instructor; has lead students for over 20 years. Inspiration for her yoga classes comes from her background in dance, intensive training in Dance Therapy and Movement Analysis with Irmgard Bartenieff, founder of the Laban Institute of Movement Studies, studies in the Alexander Technique, and an ongoing exploration of spirituality and the arts (Master of Divinity -Yale/ Institute of Sacred Music.) Terri teaches group and private yoga for all ages. She brings her yoga off the mat as President of Guilford Community TV, and as Founding Partner and Manager of the Hubbard Community Garden at the Medad Stone Tavern

A new Program in 2018 is LEGOS Club, where each week your child will get their own LEGOS set to build. These kits will be brand new and contain 100-200 pieces per project. The final project will last two weeks to complete. This program will take place at Goodwin Elementary.
 
5:00 PM - 6:00 PM    High School Lacrosse - High School LAX Club
This Winter OSPR is running a drop in style Lacrosse league.  This league is for any student,male or female in grades 9th - 12th and will take place at the Rec.  It will be a fast pace, 3v3 pick up style league.  This is a non contact league, however participants will need gloves and helmets and or protective eye gear.

Ultimate Frisbee This fast paced sport is played like football except you don’t tackle and you use a Frisbee to score touchdowns!!  Learn to throw the Frisbee, pass to teammates, and how to score goals.  A great way to spend an afternoon.  Class lasts for 4 weeks and meets at the RecreationCenter.
 
3:15 PM - 4:00 PM    Chess Club - Chess Club at Goodwin
OSPR is bringing back the original afterschool club... Chess Club!!  We will teach your child the rules and strategy behind this classic board game.  If you already know how to play then you will be well on your way to a fun afternoon.
 
6:30 PM - 8:30 PM    Sound Steppers at Goodwin - Sound Steppers at Goodwin
Looking for something fun and new to try... try Modern Western Square Dancing.  OSPR is now offering square dancing!  This fun and easy going program that is just as much social as it is physical.  There is skill progression learning new calls through the weeks.  This program meets in the cafeteria at Goodwin Elementary.
 
7:00 PM - 8:30 PM    Adult Volleyball Wednesday Nights - Adult Volleyball Wednesday Nights
On Wednesday nights the gym is open to all adults to come and play pick-up style volleyball. This is a great opportunity to get out mid week and have a fun and active evening. The competition is friendly and usually we are able to play 3 to 4 matches each night.

Join us for an afternoon of art as we all find our inner Picaso.  Each participant will be given their own color by number book and the over the 5 classes we will have mastered the art of coloring!

Kids learn how to groove to the rhythm of their favorite songs!  This program will have your child using their imagination and exploring a variety of movements, patterns, sounds and concepts.  This program is designed to introduce children to music and dance.

This theatrical program will include highly structured Drama activities and games followed by rehearsals for our live production! Each class, we make sure that your child is having a fantastic time while developing essential life skills along the way. These classes build on each other, and working towards our big idea for the program. Each class will incorporate fun confidence building activities, games and rehearsals and a live production.

Get your little one down to the Rec to join in all the soccer fun at OSPR!!  Classes will focus on developing the basic soccer skills while having a lot of fun at the same time.  Classes will last 45 minutes at the Rec and will incorporate drills and mini games and game play. Classes are low in number to allow for better and more personal instruction.  Shin guards are manditory.

Modifications encourage mixed-level students to work to their personal edge. Focus of this class is on stress release and re-energizing of body and mind.  Class Taught by : Terri Cain, BFA, MA, MDiv, certified Kripalu Yoga instructor; has lead students for over 20 years. Inspiration for her yoga classes comes from her background in dance, intensive training in Dance Therapy and Movement Analysis with Irmgard Bartenieff, founder of the Laban Institute of Movement Studies, studies in the Alexander Technique, and an ongoing exploration of spirituality and the arts (Master of Divinity -Yale/ Institute of Sacred Music.) Terri teaches group and private yoga for all ages. A new Program in 2018 is LEGOS Club, where each week your child will get their own LEGOS set to build. These kits will be brand new and contain 100-200 pieces per project. The final project will last two weeks to complete. This program will take place at Goodwin Elementary.

This Winter OSPR is running a drop in style Lacrosse league.  This league is for any student,male or female in grades 9th - 12th and will take place at the Rec.  It will be a fast pace, 3v3 pick up style league.  This is a non contact league, however participants will need gloves and helmets and or protective eye gear.

Ultimate Frisbee This fast paced sport is played like football except you don’t tackle and you use a Frisbee to score touchdowns!!  Learn to throw the Frisbee, pass to teammates, and how to score goals.  A great way to spend an afternoon.  Class lasts for 4 weeks and meets at the RecreationCenter.

Looking for something fun and new to try... try Modern Western Square Dancing.  OSPR is now offering square dancing!  This fun and easy going program that is just as much social as it is physical.  There is skill progression learning new calls through the weeks.  This program meets in the cafeteria at Goodwin Elementary.

On Wednesday nights the gym is open to all adults to come and play pick-up style volleyball. This is a great opportunity to get out mid week and have a fun and active evening. The competition is friendly and usually we are able to play 3 to 4 matches each night.

The Teen Center is a drop-in program at the OSPR Recreation Center behind Town Hall and adjacent to the Old Saybrook Middle School.  It is a supervised setting where your child can interact with peers and develop social skills and relationships.  We have a wide variety of activities and games offered daily.  Members are able to use the Teen Center lounge and game tables, the gym, as well as the outside basketball courts and baseball field.Members may attend the Rec Monday-Thursday from 2:30pm-5:30pm, starting on Tuesday, September 3rd. Looking for something fun and exciting to do while your child is out of school? Your child can enjoy a day of great activities such as tag games, dodge ball, Arts –n- Crafts, movies, bowling and more. Please bring snack and lunch and active clothes, Must wear Non Marking Sneakers. Program runs from 9:00AM—4:00PM and is for K –5th graders. Program is held at the Recreation Center.
 
7:00 PM - 8:30 PM    Adult Basketball - 25+ Basketball
Adult basketball on Monday and Tuesday nights at the Rec. are free to Old Saybrook Residents, and residents may bring a guest for a $2 admission cost.  Pick-up style basketball starts at 7pm and goes till 8:30.  Monday nights is for the 18+ ball players and Tuesday night is reserved for the 25+ plus crowd.  For any questions please contact the Rec.
