The Teen Center is a drop-in program at the OSPR Recreation Center behind Town Hall and adjacent to the Old Saybrook Middle School.  It is a supervised setting where your child can interact with peers and develop social skills and relationships.  We have a wide variety of activities and games offered daily.  Members are able to use the Teen Center lounge and game tables, the gym, as well as the outside basketball courts and baseball field.Members may attend the Rec Monday-Thursday from 2:30pm-5:30pm, starting on Tuesday, September 3rd. 3:00 PM - 4:00 PM    Mini Golf Club - Mini Golf Club
New to our after-school line up this year is, Mini Golf at Saybrook Point.  Each week we will group the kids up, play a round and tally up the scores at the end.  There may be a championship round at the end!?!
 
7:00 PM - 8:30 PM    Adult Basketball - 30+ Basketball
Adult basketball on Monday and Tuesday nights at the Rec. are free to Old Saybrook Residents, and residents may bring a guest for a $2 admission cost.  Pick-up style basketball starts at 7pm and goes till 8:30.  Monday nights is for the 18+ ball players and Tuesday night is reserved for the 30+ plus crowd.  For any questions please contact the Rec.

Gentle Yoga is a Vinyasa-based class which blends breath with movement, balancing gentle stretches and openings with invigorating poses. Modifications encourage mixed-level students to work to their personal edge. Focus of this class is on stress release and re-energizing of body and mind.  Class Taught by : Terri Cain, BFA, MA, MDiv, certified Kripalu Yoga instructor; has lead students for over 20 years. Inspiration for her yoga classes comes from her background in dance, intensive training in Dance Therapy and Movement Analysis with Irmgard Bartenieff, founder of the Laban Institute of Movement Studies, studies in the Alexander Technique, and an ongoing exploration of spirituality and the arts (Master of Divinity -Yale/ Institute of Sacred Music.) Terri teaches group and private yoga for all ages. She brings her yoga off the mat as President of Guilford Community TV, and as Founding Partner and Manager of the Hubbard Community Garden at the Medad Stone Tavern

On Wednesday nights the gym is open to all adults to come and play pick-up style volleyball. This is a great opportunity to get out mid week and have a fun and active evening. The competition is friendly and usually we are able to play 3 to 4 matches each night.

Open to adults 30+ on Monday mornings at the Rec. Center. Pickleball is a racquet sport which combines elements of badminton, tennis, and table tennis. The sport is played on a court with the same dimensions as a doubles badminton court. The net is similar to a tennis net, but is mounted two inches lower. The game is played with a hard paddle and a polymer wiffleball. All equipment is provided so be ready to have fun.

Ultimate Frisbee This fast paced sport is played like football except you don’t tackle and you use a Frisbee to score touchdowns!!  Learn to throw the Frisbee, pass to teammates, and how to score goals.  A great way to spend an afternoon.  Class lasts for 4 weeks and meets at the RecreationCenter.

OSPR offers a full line up of adult soccer programming throughout the year with pick up sessions as well as an indoor futsal league and a spring outdoor league. Our leagues are for anyone who has a love for the game, looking to stay active and have while doing so.For more info on the current session, please see below.

Each week you will be working with Apples to create a different project. Make Craft projects, apple sauce, caramel apples and more. A fun way to spend some Fall afternoons. Class takes place at the Rec Center and Lasts for 5 weeks.

Get your little one down to the Rec to join in all the soccer fun at OSPR!!  Classes will focus on developing the basic soccer skills while having a lot of fun at the same time.  Classes will last 45 minutes at the Rec and will incorporate drills and mini games and game play. Classes are low in number to allow for better and more personal instruction.  Shin guards are manditory.

OSPR is happy to offer a full line up of outdoor family fun this year.  The Natural Side!  From nature walks to hikes to water fun, OSPR has you covered.  Each of these events are designed to get the family outdoors, active and learning.Interpretive walks and guides will be led by Patricia Laudano, Naturalist Field Researcher and Educator.  Her programs will last 1.5 hours on average.

Looking for something fun and new to try... try Modern Western Square Dancing.  OSPR is now offering square dancing!  This fun and easy going program that is just as much social as it is physical.  There is skill progression learning new calls through the weeks.  This program meets in the cafeteria at Goodwin Elementary.

Open to adults 30+ on Monday mornings at the Rec. Center. Pickleball is a racquet sport which combines elements of badminton, tennis, and table tennis. The sport is played on a court with the same dimensions as a doubles badminton court. The net is similar to a tennis net, but is mounted two inches lower. The game is played with a hard paddle and a polymer wiffleball. All equipment is provided so be ready to have fun.

Get your little one down to the Rec to join in all the soccer fun at OSPR!!  Classes will focus on developing the basic soccer skills while having a lot of fun at the same time.  Classes will last 45 minutes at the Rec and will incorporate drills and mini games and game play. Classes are low in number to allow for better and more personal instruction.  Shin guards are manditory.

Join Parks & Recreation for some great family fun workshops. We have two workshops we are offering in the fall, a Scarecrow Workshop and a Pumpkin Decorating workshop.  OSPR will provide all needed supplies except for the clothes for your scarecrow or the pumpkins.  Refreshments will be provided.

Get your little one down to the Rec to join in all the soccer fun at OSPR!!  Classes will focus on developing the basic soccer skills while having a lot of fun at the same time.  Classes will last 45 minutes at the Rec and will incorporate drills and mini games and game play. Classes are low in number to allow for better and more personal instruction.  Shin guards are manditory.

OSPR is bring this gym class classic to life in our new fall adult league.  Teams of 6 will take the court and dodge there way in a best of 5 match to determine the winner.  We will used adult size gator balls and will follow some classic rules as well as some of OSPR's in house classics to make each match a ton of fun.Only the team captain needs to register for the entire team.  Teams may have up to 10 people on the roster, but only 6 people will play in a match..
